It wasn't the first time she'd ever killed someone.

She smoothed her tunic, straightening the fabric conscientiously.

He was a criminal. Her job was to apprehend criminals. Sometimes, in the moment, these things just happened. They resisted arrest. He had certainly resisted often enough. If he had reached for his sword...

For some reason, she kept picturing his face. The way he had glanced over his shoulder, turned slowly to face her. The way his eyes had widened, just before.

Sodia stayed in front of her mirror for more than an hour. There was one, persistent wrinkle she couldn't erase.

This is a really good character study moment.

I love this perspective of her mixed feelings about it: how she thinks it was right but she's still troubled by what happened.

I really like how she seems to be trying to numb or calm herself about this but she just can't because under her knightly image she's still shaken by the responsibility of what it means to take matters into your own hands when it involves another life.
