Alexei's fingers curled into fists. That was how the Council thought of him: a thug, itching for a fight, without regard for his betters. He barked at their heels not because they were poor masters, but simply out of boredom.

Of course he didn't want to send men off to die on another continent.

But more than that, he feared the nobles would seize upon this distraction -- and he would lose his chance to correct this broken Empire.

I love the idea that Alexei started out genuinely wanting to do the right thing. There had to be reasons why Flynn believed in him.

I'm just kind of in love with the idea of thwarted jaded former-hero!Alexei who really did want to change things and just. Decided nothing would ever change. Bawww.

I really do love little moments of insight. I mean, of course we know why Alexei went bad: for the same reason that Yuri and Flynn both also walk that line. This is a game of justice. But I still love seeing it, since we never really got to in-game.

That's why I looove Alexei. I plan to write more things with him so that I can get a better idea of his voiceee and then write other things with him
