Repede packed his pipe and tamped it down slowly, but before he'd even gotten a fresh draw the cat was back, twining its little pink body around his feet.
"Shoo. Go on, I'm not a cat kind of guy." It maioed, and dug entreating claws into his bootlaces.
He pulled free and stood. "Yuri! Flynn! Heel!"
Twin pointed heads swung in his direction, yellow and black, and they tore across the clearing like a two-animal stampede, though not without a last bite at each other's ears.
He dug both hands into furred ruffs. They barked.
"Good boys. Let's go home."
