The sky is perfect today. Asch sits on the hill overlooking Daath, his back to the pilgrims' monument, and watches the sky instead of the road. There's not a cloud anywhere, just gently fading blue. About halfway between zenith and horizon, it's exactly the color of Natalia's eyes.

The shadow falls across him before he hears anyone coming, and Asch startles. "Neglecting your training?" Van says.

"No," Asch says automatically, looking down. He looks at nothing, at his gloves. Cold, dead gray.

"You should come back to headquarters," Van says.

"Fine." Asch gets up. He hates the clear sky anyway.

I came to the conclusion this afternoon that I sort of badly want Asch and Zuko to have a mope-off somewhere.

And I mean that with the utmost fondness. ^^;
