Guy used to light a candle for him when he was too new to understand why the darkness devoured everyone from his sight. The boy who played dad for Luke let him see enough to know he was not alone but never told him why.
When he was experienced enough he slept uneasily. Fire burned his cheeks as his eyes closed. There were no candle's lit and Luke tells himself not to be needy.
No flame from a candle can shine a pleasant lie to light; he needed to make his own flickering light to know truth in the abyss.
